Over two thousand delegates have been empowered to participate in the voting process to get a Presidential flagbearer for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2023 general elections.
Naija News reports that APC had rescheduled its primaries to hold between June 6th and 7th 2022.
All zones would produce a list of delegates for the exercise with the exception of Statutory delegates comprising of the President, Vice President, and House Assembly members who have been ruled out of the process following the signing into law of the newly amended electoral act.
Aspirants as it stands would seek the favour of about 2,340 party delegates that will vote them to as emerge the party’s 2023 presidential candidate.

From the above statistics, the Northern part of the country has a total of 1,257 delegates ready for the 2023 APC presidential primaries. The Southern region on the other hand has in total of 1,068 delegates.
Meanwhile, the presidential screening committee of the All Progressives Congress has been charged by a member of the party, Sagir Mai Iyali to disqualify the national leader of the party, Bola Tinubu over alleged certificate forgery.
The petition which was written on the 17th of May, 2022, was submitted on Monday, May 30, and its receipt was acknowledged by one Emmanuel Akpan.
The academic qualifications of the former Governor of Lagos State have been a subject of controversy for over a decade. Tinubu had indicated he graduated from the University of Chicago in his INEC form 001 filled when he contested the Lagos State governorship poll in 1999.
The presidential aspirant also stated that he lost his university degree certificate while he was in exile between 1994 and 1998.
Iyali in the petition forwarded to the chairman of the presidential screening committee, John Odigie-Oyegun said Tinubu never graduated from the University of Chicago.
He added that the former governor lied about his age and state of origin, stressing that Tinubu shouldn’t be allowed to participate in the June 7 primary of the party.
