2023 Presidency: Any Aspirant Above 70 Years Shouldn’t Be Contesting – Ortom

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has said that aspirants above 70 years should shelve their 2023 presidential aspirations.

He made this known on Monday when he received former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, governors of Sokoto and Bauchi States, Aminu Tambuwal and Bala Mohammed respectively, at the Government House in Makurdi.

Ortom stated that Nigerians cannot afford to vote for another old and analogue president, adding that it is time to computerise and digitise governance.

He stressed that the nation needs a young president who is computer literate and has the capacity to address the country’s various challenges.

He said: “Any person above 70 years should not be looking for Presidency. These are people, today, we are in the computer age and these three gentlemen you see here are computer literate and they have the capacity.

“We cannot continue to be in the analogue. How many of you were alive in 1930 or 1945? During the Second World War, how many of you were born that time? Even, I was born in 1961. So, the world has changed, we are now in the digital world and we must computerise and digitise governance too.”

While reiterating his support for a Southern presidency, Ortom added that the decision of the party on where the presidency should be zoned should come first.
