2023 Presidency: Buhari Has ‘Private Agenda’, Osinbajo Wants To Continue It – Adebanjo

The leader of the Yoruba socio-political group, Pa Ayo Adebanjo has alleged that President Muhammadu Buhari has been running a ‘private agenda’ since assuming power in 2015.

He argued that the agenda is what has plunged Nigeria into the current challenges of insecurity and economic problems.

In his view, Nigeria has gone worse since the current administration led by President Buhari came into power in 2015.

Pa Adebanjo submitted that the unfinished agenda of ‘insecurity and poverty’ is what Vice President Yemi Osinbajo also wants to continue by aspiring to be the nation’s President in 2023.

Naija News understands the Afenifere leader made the submissions on Sunday during an interview with Channels Television.

He argued that the government has and knows the solution to the problems facing Nigeria but those in power are just not ready to implement the needed steps.

“Former President Olusegun Obasanjo told them that the creation of state police is the solution to the country’s insecurity. Let each state take care of its own security. Let them be armed,” the Afenifere leader said.

“My view is that it is not that Buhari doesn’t know, but he has a private agenda, which everybody does not want to admit.”

Asked if he has any evidence to back up his claims that President Buhari has been running a ‘private agenda’, Adebanjo said at no time has Buhari come out to debunk the allegation since it has been in the public domain.

“I have evidence. When I said he has a private agenda. When has he come to the public to say ‘who is saying I have a private agenda’. I mean well. Why should I not create state police?’

“Since he (referring to the president) has been in office, has he addressed the nation during May Day? When he wants to talk to us, he goes abroad. What is he doing so well?

“What is the value of the naira in 2015? What is the value now? How much were we buying petrol in 2015? How much is it now?

The Afenifere leader knocked Osinbajo for stating that he wants to become President to continue what Buhari has started, arguing that Nigeria has not fared any better under the leadership of the current administration.

“The vice-president, Yemi Osinbajo, now said he wants to succeed him and continue his works and continue the insecurity and poverty.”

On April 11, 2022, Prof. Osinbajo officially declared his aspiration to succeed President Buhari by seeking the presidential ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
