    Atiku’s Camp Replies Obasanjo Over Running Mate Statement

    AbdulRasheed Shehu, founder of the Atiku Kawai Media Group has said that former President Olusegun Obasanjo is very bitter that former vice president, Atiku Abubakar frustrated his tenure elongation agenda, otherwise known as ‘the Third Term Agenda’ in 2007

    Speaking about the process that led to the emergence of his Vice, Obasanjo, who was interacting with some secondary school students at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL), Abeokuta, Ogun State, said he made a mistake while picking his running mate during the civil rule.

    Obasanjo said he selected the wrong vice, but it was a genuine mistake in the end. Obasanjo said he made many mistakes in life, but that God made him overcome them.

    Responding to the former president in a tweet, Shehu, who is a member of the Atiku Abubakar presidential election technical committee, said Obasanjo was “still bitter” that Atiku frustrated his tenure elongation agenda, otherwise known as the ‘Third Term Agenda’ in 2007.

    Why I Was Happy When Tinubu Won APC Primaries – Buhari

    President Muhammadu Buhari has revealed why he was happy when Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu emerged as the All Progressives Congress, APC flag bearer.

    The president shared his thoughts in the special prayer session at the Ansar-Ud-Deen Central Mosque, Wuse 2, Abuja, which was organised as part of events marking the 60th birthday of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila.

    In his remarks delivered by Prof Ibrahim Gambari, Chief of Staff to the President, who represented Buhari on the occasion, the nation’s leader explained that he stood for a free and fair process, which, was the reason why he was happy when Tinubu emerged as the presidential candidate of the APC in such a process.

    Gambari also said the President wanted to assure Nigerians that he did not have any intention to subvert the constitution to extend his tenure in office.

    Eight Lawmakers, PDP Leaders To Dump Party For APC

    Eight members of the Oyo State House of Assembly elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are set to dump the ruling party.

    It was gathered that the lawmakers and some leaders of the party in the SouthWest state had concluded plans to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).

    Naija News recalls that Oyo State Deputy Governor Rauf Olaniyan had recently dumped the PDP for the APC after falling out with Governor Seyi Makinde.

    Makinde, who is seeking reelection in 2023, refused to pick Olaniyan as his running mate.

    One of the aggrieved PDP lawmakers confirmed some lawmakers plan to dump the ruling party on Sunday.

    He told Vanguard that the planned defection was because the state lawmakers were denied the PDP’s ticket to contest the 2023 elections.

    2023: Northern Govs’ Interest In Tinubu Not Genuine – Prof Akintoye

    The leader of the Yoruba self-determination group, Ilana Omo Oodua, Prof Banji Akintoye, has described the interest of the Northern Governor in the presidential ambition of Bola Tinubu as not genuine.

    Akintoye stated this during an interview with Punch recently.

    The agitator when asked if it was worth it to give up the struggle for the Yoruba Nation for the presidential ambition of Tinubu said, “it is not worth giving up the (Yoruba Nation) struggle for.”

    He further stated that the Northern Governors would dump the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress for Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party in 2023.

    2023: APC, PDP Has Failed Nigerians – Kwankwaso

    The presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, Rabiu Kwankwaso has called on Nigerians to reject the All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2023 general election.

    The former Governor of Kano State said the two parties have failed and had nothing to offer.

    Kwankwaso stated this on Sunday in Ado-Ekiti, the State capital during a consultation visit to the State.

    The presidential candidate further stated that NNPP has grown since he dumped PDP for the party.

    2023: Tinubu To Unveil A Muslim Running Mate Next Month – Ajomale

    A former Chairman of the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, Henry Ajomale has stated that the presidential candidate of the party, Bola Tinubu would unveil a Muslim running mate next month.

    Ajomale in an interview with Punch noted that Kabiru Masari would be replaced with another person by July 15.

    He further stated that the search for Vice Presidential candidate has been narrowed down to Borno, Kano, and Kaduna.

    Ajomale while speaking on consultation for Tinubu’s running mate said, “Although we are still consulting, it is certain that the APC will be flying a Muslim-Muslim ticket.

    Atiku, Ayu Condemned For Shunning Ekiti PDP Campaign

    The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Iyorchia Ayu, and the presidential candidate of the party, Atiku Abubakar, have been condemned for shunning the party’s campaign in Ekiti.

    Some stakeholders in the party believe their decision caused the governorship candidate of the party, Bisi Kolawole his victory in the just-concluded elections.

    A former National Publicity Secretary of the party, Diran Odeyemi in an interview with Punch said Ayu and Atiku’s absence contributed to PDP’s loss in the election.

    Aliko Dangote’s Son-in-law, Jamil Mohammed Abubakar has praised Peter Obi supporters for their impact in the upcoming 2023 presidential election.

    Sharing his thoughts via a tweet, Abubakar stated that the presidential candidate has changed the narrative surrounding Nigeria’s election.

    He stated that Peter Obi’s supporters have garnered so much awareness which has led to a massive number of people obtaining their Permanent Voter’s Card to ensure that their voice is heard in 2023.

    He subsequently advised others to stop attacks, and instead focused on selling their candidate.
