Adeyanju Reacts As Ghana President Denies Telling Tinubu To Step Down For Peter Obi

Human rights activist, Deji Adeyanju has reacted to the denial by President Nana Akufo-Addo of Ghana that he asked the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to step down for the Labour Party (LP) candidate, Peter Obi.

Naija News reports that Akufo-Addo had in a statement on Tuesday described the report in which he was quoted to have told Tinubu to step down for Obi as totally false and mischievous.

He maintained that it is not in his place to interfere in the internal affairs and politics of Nigeria, adding that Ghana and Nigeria boast of decades of cordial, strong and brotherly relations.

The statement reads: “My attention has been drawn to a disturbing post making the rounds on social media, where it is alleged I have written to the 2023 presidential candidate of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, to “give Peter Obi a chance and seek treatment for his health.

“This is completely false and mischievous, with no iota of truth whatsoever in it.

“I have written no such letter to the APC leader, and it will not occur to me to do so. Ghana and Nigeria boast of decades of cordial, strong and brotherly relations, and I am not going to be the one to interfere in the internal affairs and politics of Nigeria.”

Reacting in a tweet via his Twitter handle on Tuesday, Adeyanju accused supporters of the LP presidential candidate of being behind the fake news.

The lawyer asserted that ‘Obedients’ are known for lies, fake news, insults and propaganda.

He wrote: “Everything about the Obedients are lies, fake news, insults and propaganda. Social media presidency folks.”
