The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Friday lost some of its members to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State.
This is coming after the lawmaker representing Edo North senatorial district, Francis Alimikhena dumped the party for PDP.
Alimikhena had dumped the APC for the PDP in May after losing their return ticket of the party.
He, however, won the ticket on the platform of PDP and would be contesting against former Governor of the state, Adams Oshiomhole.
The defectors, while stating the reason for dumping APC, said they left the opposition party in the state to join Senator Alimikhena because of “injustice”.
They accused APC of denying Alimikhena the return ticket in favour of Oshiomhole.
The Deputy governor of the state, Philip Shaibu, while receiving the defectors promised to work with them to change Edo North and the state in general.
Shaibu on Friday said, “You’re welcome to the PDP, together we will change the face of Edo North and the state in general.
“The aspect that gladdens my heart most is the invitation to Edo North to witness a tsunami of defection that will coast PDP to victory at all levels in 2023.”
