A 20-year-old housewife, Lamratu Nasiru has been remanded in the Katsina Custodial Centre for allegedly murdering her step-daughter.
According to Punch, the suspect and her co-wife, Zabbau were fighting when the suspect allegedly hit the baby girl’s head with a stick.
The seven-month-old baby had sustained a serious injury from the blow and was rushed to the general hospital at Musawa, where she was confirmed dead by a certified medical doctor.
During the court proceedings at the Katsina Senior Magistrate Court on Tuesday, the police prosecutor, ASP Sani Ado, while giving a detailed narration of the incidence said that the victim’s mother reported the case at the divisional police headquarters, Matazu, following which Lamratu was arrested.
The defendant is being charged with one count of culpable homicide in accordance with Section 189 of the Katsina State Penal Code Law, 2021.
Ado, however, stated that investigations were still ongoing and prayed the court to adjourn the case.
The presiding Senior Magistrate, Hajiya Fadile Dikko, granted the request and adjourned the case till October 24, 2022, for mention.
Woman Stabbed To Death While Trying To Settle Rift Between Neighbour And His Sibling
A 40-year-old woman identified as Abiye Friday has been stabbed to death by her neighbor while trying to intervene in a scuffle between him and his brother in Akure, Ondo state.
Naija News understands that the Incident occurred on September 6, 2022 at about 11:00 am at Ibaka Quarters, Akungba-Akoko, in Akoko South-West Local Government Area of the state.
The 23-year-old suspect, Abidemi Oguntuyi had reportedly stabbed the deceased on her neck and on multiple places while she was trying to settle a rift between him and his sibling.
A relation said an argument ensued between the siblings and the attempt by the victim to intervene resulted in her untimely death.
The relation said, “The argument degenerated into a scuffle and in the process, the suspect took a knife and stabbed Abiye severally in the neck and chest. Neighbours rushed her to a nearby hospital in the area where she was certified dead.”
Oguntuyi was remanded in police custody on the orders of a Magistrate Court sitting in Akure, Ondo State.
He was later charged to court on two charges bothering on murder and attempted murder.
