The Chairman of the Kastina State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Salisu Majigiri on Sunday distanced the party from the protest calling for the National Chairman of the party, Iyorchia Ayu to resign.
According to Majigiri, members of the party in Kastina State have no hand in the ‘Ayu Must Go’ protest which was held in the capital of Kastina State on Sunday.
Majigiri while addressing newsmen on the issue said, the people involved in the protest are neither from PDP headquarters nor the local government.
He further stated that the protesters calling for Ayu’s resignation are not officials of the party in Katsina State.
The PDP state Chairman claimed that the protesters were sent to come and create issues that are non-existent in Katsina.
Majigiri expressed their support for the presidential candidate of the party, Atiku Abubakar.
He added that Atiku has made it clear that nobody can be removed without following the constitutional provision of the party.
Majigiri in his words over the protest said, “We in Katsina affirm and support the position of the PDP presidential candidate, his Excellency, Atiku Abubakar on the issue of party leadership at the national level.
“In Katsina, PDP is one big united family. We don’t have anybody that is protesting the leadership of anybody or against the candidature of anybody.”
