    Wike Denies Suit Seeking Atiku, Tambuwal’s Disqualification

    Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has denied filing a suit seeking the immediate removal of Atiku Abubakar as the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in next year’s general election.

    This publication understands that the governor distanced himself from the suit hours after it was reported that the PDP Chieftain filed a suit challenging the outcome of the opposition party’s primary election.

    Naija News earlier reported that in the suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/782/2022, Wike allegedly dragged the respondents to court over the conduct of the presidential primary that was held in Abuja on May 28 and May 29, 2022.

    He filed the suit alongside a PDP chieftain, Newgent Ekamon, and listed PDP as the first respondent, while the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, is the 2nd respondent.

    However, speaking in a chat with Track News Nigeria, Wike noted that he had no idea whatsoever about the purported suit nor know the lawyers who filed the suit at the Federal High Court, Abuja.

    Wike further described the suit as the handiwork of mischief makers who merely want to use him to score cheap political points.

    Former Senate Majority Leader, Victor Ndoma-Egba has said the All Progressives Congress (APC) flagbearer, Bola Tinubu would win the 2023 presidential elections amidst the outrage against the Muslim-Muslim ticket.

    Naija News reports that since the former Governor of Lagos State unveiled Kashim Shettima as his running mate, many Nigerians have expressed their reservations.

    However, Victor Ndoma-Egba while speaking with Journalists on Friday, described the situation as a very emotive issue.

    According to the ex-lawmaker, not everyone is happy about the decision of APC, nevertheless, Tinubu would win the election.

    Ndoma-Egba stressed that Tinubu has what it takes to govern Nigeria and move the country to the next level considering his pedigree and record.

    2023: Deji Adeyanju Predicts Winner Of Presidential Election, Position Peter Obi Will End In

    Ahead of the 2023 presidential election in Nigeria, human rights activist, Deji Adeyanju has predicted how candidates of some political parties will fare in the election.
    Taking to his micro-blogging page on Friday, Adeyanju predicted that the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu will win the 2023 presidential election in Nigeria.

    He added that the current division in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will aid the win of the APC and Tinubu as according to him, the PDP votes have been divided into four places.

    On the candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Adeyanju said Peter Obi will not only come third, but a distant third, adding that he is willing to stake as much as ten thousand dollars on his prediction.

    Labour Party Appoints Charles Odigbo As Presidential Campaign Spokesman

    The Labour Party has announced Charles Odigbo as the official spokesman of the Peter Obi Presidential Campaign Council.

    A chieftain of the party and renowned economist, Professor Pat Utomi, made this known at an event organised by the Media Team for the Peter Obi Campaign team held in Lagos on Thursday.

    Utomi disclosed that the Odigbo would lead the media team comprised of veterans who are professionals, passionate and committed to the Nigerian people.

    Speaking further, the economist said that the “Big Tent Platform” for the Peter Obi campaign team would begin a “Listening Clinic” from August 16.

    He explained that the Big Tent Platform comprised several political parties working together to present the candidates that all of Nigeria would embrace.

    Utomi said that the clinic was formed in order to solve problems, noting that it was only the person that wore the shoes that knew where it pinched.

    Utomi pointed out that the clinic would be handled by a communication team who are professionals, passionate and committed to the people.

    2023: Dariye Speaks On Joining Labour Party, Running For Senate

    A former Plateau State Governor, Senator Joshua Dariye, has denied media reports that he is set to declare interest to contest the Plateau Central Senatorial seat on the platform of the Labour Party (LP).

    Daily Trust had reported that the Plateau State chapter of LP has concluded arrangements to welcome Dariye from Abuja to pick the party’s senatorial form.

    An LP chieftain, who craved anonymity, said Dariye has the capacity to spring surprises at next year’s election because of the love many have for him in the state.

    He stated that Dariye has also given a boost to the party’s governorship candidate, Patrick Dakum, who defected to the LP, after failing to secure the ticket of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

    Reacting to the claim, the former Plateau governor stated that he was not running for Senate or any other elective post at the moment.

    Dariye described the media reports as unfounded and untrue, saying that he has not bought any senatorial form or done anything to that effect.

    The governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Rivers State, Senator Magnus Abe has appealed to the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike to do everything necessary to prevent criminals from taking over the state.
    Abe pointed out that politicians must not be allowed to plunge the state into chaos because of selfish ambitions.

    The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain while speaking during a Sunday night broadcast said he has been informed that some unnamed politicians were recruiting hoodlums to disrupt processes before and during the forthcoming polls.

    2023: Peter Obi Visits Moghalu, Gets Endorsement Of Former CBN Deputy Governor

    The Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi has visited former presidential aspirant and ex-deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Professor Kingsley Moghalu.

    The two leaders met at the Abuja residence of Moghalu on Thursday, Naija News reports.

    Speaking about their meeting, Moghalu took to his Twitter account on Friday to reveal that they discussed issues about the 2023 presidential election in Nigeria and other national issues.

    According to the former CBN Deputy Governor, he and Obi have always enjoyed a cordial relationship dating back many years, adding that they are both from Anambra State.

    Moghalu went on to state that Obi’s 2023 candidacy is a welcome development for the youths and the third force.

    Amaechi’s Ally Dumps APC After A Meeting With Wike

    The spokesman of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, Chris Finebone, who is a long-standing ally of former Minster of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has dumped the party for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

    Naija News reports that Finebone confirmed his defection to journalists in Port Harcourt after a closed-door meeting with Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike.

    During the meeting on Thursday night, Wike promised to award the contract for the construction of Opobo Ring Road before he leaves office in 2023.

    Finebone, who is from Opobo Local Government where the PDP governorship candidate hails, also took to his Twitter page to pledge support for him.

    Muslim-Muslim: Wike Rejects Call To Join APC

    The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike has rejected the call to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) and support its presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu.

    An associate of Governor Wike revealed this while speaking with Daily Independent on Thursday.

    An associate of the River State governor said Wike, who has noted that he would not support the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, took the same decision on the presidential ambition of Tinubu.

    He further stated that Governor Wike made it clear that he will not have anything to do with APC because of the Muslim-Muslim ticket.

    A former federal lawmaker in Rivers State, while speaking on the issue, said Governor Wike has made it clear that he would not be dumping the PDP.

    The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reacted to speculations that the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, may dump the party amidst the crisis rocking the party.

    The National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, in a statement released on Friday, dismissed the claim that Wike would dump PDP.

    Ologunagba described the Rivers State Governor as an important and loyal member of the party.

    He further stated that Governor Wike has invested so much in the main opposition party for him to dump the party.

    The PDP spokesman noted that Wike had promised that he would support any candidate that emerge as the presidential candidate of the party before the primary was held.

    He said he does not have evidence that the Rivers State Governor has changed his mind on his promise.

    Former Senate President, David Mark has urged Nigerian Christians not to remain apolitical in the upcoming 2023 elections.

    Mark gave the advice via a statement at the 48th/13th biennial conference of the Methodist Church Nigeria in Abuja.

    He argued that the old belief which encourages Christians not to get involved in politics should be evaluated in light of recent occurrences in the country.

    The Prelate of the Methodist Church, Dr Samuel Uche, said that the church was praying for peace, security, and unity to return to Nigeria.

    A former Deputy Governor of Bauchi State, Sule Katagum, has said that the north had considered president Muhammadu Buhari their Mahatma Gandhi.

    In an interview with Punch, Katagum said that the reason he left the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was because the principles for which he joined the party in 2014 were no longer valid.

    He argued that he joined the party because of ideals such as fairness and justice and they (north) had expected Buhari to be like Mahatma Gandhi and Nelson Mandela.

    Nigerian Journalist and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) former Presidential aspirant, Dele Momodu has issued a warning to Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, amidst the crisis rocking the party.

    Naija News reports that Wike and PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar have been in a running battle, following the outcome of the party’s presidential primary election.

    In a statement shared on his Instagram page titled ‘My Kobo Advice to Governor Nyesom Wike,’ Dele Momodu praised the Governor for his exceptional work and achievement in Rivers State.

    The journalist urged Wike never to take a decision based on anger or destroy the bridge after crossing the river.

    According to Dele, Wike’s anger is not out of place, however, it is important for him to apply break before it becomes late.
