2023: I’m Waiting To Hear From God Before Supporting Atiku – Ortom
Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State said that his support for the 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, depends on the instruction from God.
The Benue state stated that he is still waiting to hear from God before he can support Atiku in the 2023 Presidential election, adding that he is fasting and praying about the issue.
Ortom stated this while speaking on Arise TV on Wednesday morning.
The governor added that the party’s best choice for the Vice-Presidential candidate would have been his Rivers state counterpart, Nyesom Wike due to his commitment to the PDP.
Ortom disclosed that he expects Atiku to meet with Wike and other governors to explain his choice of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State as his running mate.
Peter Obi: Fashola Begs Nigerians Not To Vote With Anger In 2023
The Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola has urged Nigerians not to vote out of anger in the upcoming 2023 general elections.
This is coming in the wake of massive social media support for the Labour Party, LP, presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
Fashola shared his thoughts at the sixth edition of the annual “BRF GABFEST” in Lagos.
Reacting to someone’s comment who noted that Nigerians may vote out of anger in the upcoming 2023 election, the former governor urged electorates to set emotion aside and consider the track records of the presidential candidates.
Ex-Kano Governor, Shekarau Officially Dumps APC For NNPP
The lawmaker representing Kano Central Senatorial district, Ibrahim Shekarau has announced his defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
The Senate President, Ahmad Lawan on Wednesday announced the defection of the former Governor of Kano State during plenary.
Lawan read the letter of his resignation after the upper legislative Chamber resumed a two-hour closed-door meeting on Wednesday.
Shekarau in the letter cited injustice and unfairness by Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State as reasons for dumping APC.
He further stated that the ruling party for the past two years have been struggling with an unresolved crisis.
Bola Tinubu Rejects Ahmad Lawan, Yahaya Bello As Running Mate
The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has rejected the chance to pick Senate President Ahmad Lawan or Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State as his running mate.
Naija News recalls that Tinubu had defeated the duo in the presidential primary of the ruling party.
The former Lagos State Governor had submitted the name of Ibrahim Masari to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as his running mate, in what many believe to be a ‘placeholder’ capacity.
Speaking last weekend at the 60th birthday of the Speaker of the House of Reps, Femi Gbajabiamila, Tinubu had said that he is still in search of a running mate.
According to Daily Independent, Lawan and Bello have been lobbying President Muhammadu Buhari to prevail over Tinubu to pick them as his running mate.
A source told the publication that Tinubu rejected both as they are direct contestants with him.
2023: PDP Has Treated Wike Badly – Ortom
The Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom has charged the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party to meet with the Governor of River State, Nyesom Wike over his grievances.
Ortom advised that calling the presidential aspirant on phone to resolve the issue in the party would not be resourceful.
He further stated that when others left PDP, Wike remained and also brought him back to the party when he was treated unjustly.
According to Ortom, the leadership of PDP has treated Wike badly and they need to meet with him to appeal to him.
Lagos: Jandor Set To Unveil Running Mate After Campaign Poster With Funke Akindele Emerge
The Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Lagos State, Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, is set to unveil his running mate.
There had been speculation that famous Nigerian actress Funke Akindele might emerge as the party’s Deputy Governorship candidate.
According to Vanguard, a yet-to-be-confirmed report has it that four other names have made the list to emerge as Jandor’s running mate
Among those shortlisted are: Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour; former Senatorial candidate for Lagos East, Yeye Shobajo, another governorship aspirant, David Kolawole Vaughan known as DAKOVA, and Engr. Teslim Balogun.
Naija News had earlier reported that Jandor and Akindele’s poster was spotted online, with claims that Akindele might be the party’s deputy governorship candidate.
However, it was stated that the Nollywood actress was only nominated as a potential running mate ahead of the 2023 governorship election.
Bola Tinubu: Omokri Mocks APC Over Masari’s Missing Original Certificates
Former Presidential aide, Reno Omokri has described the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as a “wonderful party”.
Omokri was reacting to the statement made by the Vice Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Kabiru Masari, that his original certificates were missing.
Masari had informed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of the development amidst controversy around the Primary and Secondary School Certificates of the party’s presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu.
Reacting in a tweet on his verified Twitter page, Omokri mocked the ruling party and wondered how Tinubu and his running mate could have lost their certificates.
He wrote: “Tinubu said he lost all his certificates. Now, his placeholder, Masari, has also told INEC that he has also lost all his own certificates? Ah ah! APC! What a wonderful party! I have an idea for an Ad for APC. Have you lost your certificates? Then come join us!”
Wike Is Now Like A Boiling Pot, People Stopping Him From Seeing Clearly – Lamido
A former Governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido on Wednesday said Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State might be the next President of Nigeria after Atiku Abubakar.
Abubakar is the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2023 general election.
Lamido in an interview with Vanguard described Wike as a huge treasure for PDP and one of the best materials.
The PDP chieftain said Wike would be a natural heir to the presidency if the party wins in the 2023 presidential election.
2023: Jide Kosoko, Yinka Quadri, Femi Adebayo, Other Yoruba Actors Declare Support For Tinubu
All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu has received the backing of top Yoruba Nollywood actors for the 2023 elections.
Naija News reports that Veteran actor and movie producer, Yinka Quadri confirmed this in a barely two minutes video he posted on his Instagram page.
Other veterans and movie producers spotted in the campaign video include Adebayo Salami, Jide Kosoko, Taiwo Hassan, Fausat Balogun, Saheed Balogun, Femi Adebayo, Fathia Williams, Murphy Afolabi, Eniola Ajao and others.
The actors hailed the former Governor of Lagos, stating that it was his turn to become Nigeria’s next president. Using Tinubu’s popular slogan ‘EMI LOKAN’, the actors urged every Nigerian to cast their vote for the ace politician.
According to them, Tinubu is the best fit for the position and would make the country better if elected come 2023.
Osun 2022: PDP Factional Chairman, Adeleke’s Former Running Mate, Others Defect To APC
A factional Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State, Wale Ojo and the 2018 running mate to Senator Ademola Adeleke, Mr. Albert Adeogun have dumped the PDP for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Naija News reports the duo are part of the over ten thousand PDP members that defected to the APC on Tuesday ahead of the July 16 governorship election in Osun State.
The defectors were received officially by the Osun State Governor and APC candidate, Gboyega Oyetola and the APC National Secretary, Iyiola Omisore as well as other party leaders at a rally held at the freedom park in Osogbo, the state capital.
Speaking at the rally, Ojo described the PDP in Osun State as a party of wasters and serial failures.
Buhari Has Failed To Secure The Country – APC Lawmaker
A lawmaker elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Gabriel Zock, has accused President Muhammadu Buhari of failing to secure the country and protect the lives of the citizens.
The lawmaker representing Kachia/Kagarko Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives made the accusation on Sunrise Daily, a Channels Television programme, on Wednesday.
Zock stated that President Buhari has failed to tackle the worsening insecurity in Kaduna State and also failed to fulfil his campaign promise of tacking the activities of bandits in the North West region.
The lawmaker urged the President to allow those that have the solution to these security issues the opportunity to actually implement their strategies.
Court Takes Decision On Impeachment Of Oyo Deputy Governor, Rauf Olaniyan
An Oyo State High Court sitting in Ibadan has stopped the Oyo State House of Assembly from impeaching the Deputy Governor, Engr Rauf Olaniyan.
In a ruling on Wednesday, the presiding judge, Justice Ladiran Akintola barred any removal process the state assembly may want to initiate.
According to the judge, the assembly should maintain a status-quo pending the hearing of the application for interlocutory injunctions before it.
Recall that the case which came up on Tuesday was adjourned till Wednesday due to the absence of the legal counsel to the Oyo State House of Assembly, the Speaker of the House and Clerk.
Olaniyan had dragged the parties to court to seek an injunction to stop what he described as the “faulty process” of his impeachment.
2023: Kperogi Tackles Tinubu Over NYSC Records
Newspaper columnist, Farooq Kperogi has tackled the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, for allegedly not participating in the mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme.
In a lengthy post via his Facebook page on Wednesday, Kperogi wondered why the former Lagos Governor failed to participate in the NYSC programme even when he was eligible to do so.
The media scholar stated that Tinubu was below 30 years at the time he graduated from Chicago State University and refused to serve his fatherland.
Kperogi opined that people who are questioning Tinubu’s university degree are asking the wrong question, rather they should be asking why the APC presidential candidate did not take part in the NYSC scheme.
2023: PDP Calls On United Nations For Help As Election Draws Closer
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on the United Nations to help in preventing the All Progressives Congress (APC) from rigging the 2023 election.
Umar Damagum, the party’s Deputy National Chairman (North), called on the assistance of the organization while receiving a team of special representatives of the UN Secretary-General, led by the head of the UN Office in West Africa and the Sahel Region (UNOWAS), Ahmad Annadif, on Tuesday in Abuja.
Damagum said that the present state of the country could not handle any form of electoral violence, adding that he hopes the APC will readily give up power if defeated in the 2023 elections.
Why I Did Not Get APC Return Ticket – Bulkachuwa
The lawmaker representing Bauchi North senatorial district, Adamu Bulkachuwa has revealed why he did not clinch the return ticket of the All Progressives Congress to the Senate.
According to Bulkachuwa, he withdrew from the race because the team that was sent to conduct the primary had a predetermined mind.
He further stated that he met with the leadership of the party in Bauchi state on how APC would not lose, but his advice was ignored.
Bulkachuwa further stated that the development saw two of his colleagues dump the party.
Speaking in an interview on Channels TV on Tuesday, he added that he was not pleased with the way things went.
Tinubu’s Former Boss At Mobil, Pius Oluwole Speaks on His Certificate Controversy
Pius Oluwole Akinyelure, Bola Tinubu’s former boss at Mobil Oil and presently a member of the NNPC board has reacted to the controversies surrounding the school certificate of the former Lagos Governor.
In a post shared on Facebook, Pius said Tinubu’s credentials were scrutinised and considered genuine and authentic when he appeared for an interview at Mobil Oil.
He said Tinubu would never have been employed by the organisation if any of his credentials were found wanting no matter how small.
According to Pius, Tinubu was employed as a Senior Auditor and he carried out a very comprehensive audit like never before which indicted many Directors including the MD.
He added that Tinubu was later appointed as Treasurer in the organisation before he resigned from the company to join politics.
‘Why We Can’t Disclose Tinubu’s Primary, Secondary Schools’ – Chicago State University
The Chicago State University has explained why it is unable to give clarification on the primary and secondary schools attended by the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congres, Bola Tinubu.
A spokeswoman for Chicago State University, Lauren Finch, said Tinubu’s academic records are covered by American privacy regulations.
In an email to Peoples Gazette, the Chicago State University confirmed Tinubu as a former student, graduating with a degree in business and administration on June 22, 1979.
It reads: “We have checked with our legal department and we cannot give you more than the information we have already provided.”
“Mr Tinubu attended our school and graduated on June 22, 1979. We can only say when he came in and when he graduated.”
