Olusegun Bamgbose, National Coordinator, Concerned Advocates for Good Governance (CAGG), has berated Governor David Umahi for defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Naija News had reported earlier that the Ebonyi Governor announced his defection from PDP to APC while addressing journalists in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital on Tuesday, November 17.
Governor Umahi said he moved to the ruling APC because of injustice meted out to the Southeast by his former political party, the PDP.
The Ebonyi Governor clarified that he has no deal with the APC or any member of the party with regards to the zoning of the presidential position to the southeast in 2023 as touted in some quarters.
Speaking in an interview with Daily Post, Bamgbose, a chieftain of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), said the APC would frustrate and mess Umahi up.
According to the 2023 presidential hopeful, the Ebonyi governor behaved like a political toddler by thinking the APC will zone the 2023 presidency to the south-east.
Bamgbose said: “Let him be told that, he cannot realize his presidential ambition in APC. His defection has exposed him to be a politician devoid of political foresight.
“APC will never zone the 2023 presidency to the South East. It’s the last thing that the party will do. David Umahi has behaved like a political toddler.
“His defection is highly defective. He should be crowned as a joker of the year 2020, if he believes that he will be handed over APC Presidential ticket, it’s very doubtful.
“There is however another possibility that he was cajoled by APC to come over to APC for him to be running mate to a Northerner. This is a great deception.
“It’s really a big surprise that after winning via PDP, he could now ditch them because of his unrealisable ambition. It’s really pathetic and very unfortunate.”
