Why We Supported Atiku During 2019 Elections – NEF

The Northern Elders Forum (NEF) has revealed the reason it supported the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, in the 2019 general elections.

Speaking during an interview with Channels Television on Sunday, NEF Spokesman, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, said the former Vice President was the only available option at that time.

He said the NEF campaigned against President Muhammadi Buhari in 2019 due to his abysmal performance in his first term in office, saying that forum had been justified by the various issues facing the country at the moment.

Baba-Ahmed added that the forum told northerners not to vote for him in 2019 and instead vote for the PDP presidential candidate.

He said the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, would have to convince the forum to get their support and that of the Northerners.

He said, “If Tinubu is able to convince us about his genuine intention to the North, We will, in turn, tell the people Tinubu is the best candidate, vote for him.

“The truth is that we campaigned against Buhari and told northerners not to vote for him in 2019. That’s because Buhari didn’t do well in his first term. We supported Atiku because it was the only option available then.

Muslim-Muslim Ticket: Go And Vote On Election Day – Keyamo Tackles PFN

The spokesperson of the APC presidential campaign council, Festus Keyamo, has slammed the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) for dabbing into the affairs of the ruling party.

Speaking during an interview with Channels Television on Sunday, Keyamo said pastors should stop dabbling in politics, adding that PFN has no right to criticize the decisions of the ruling party.

Keyamo, the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, stated this while reacting to an interview David Bakare, deputy national secretary of the PFN, had with The Cable, where he said the group has no affiliation with members of the Pentecostal Bishops Forum of Northern Nigeria who met with Bola Tinubu, APC presidential candidate, last Friday.
